Welcome! Stay awhile :)
For the sun never rises on Sunday
The day dedicated to the Lord
As the first and eighth day of the week
Brings no more glory
Than the twenty-four hours before it
Those embracing the inferiority complex of their ancestors proclaim that they never enslaved me
Yet they exist as the reason that contemporarily my people’s skin never feels the breeze
And where excellence of a "lesser people" drives them to profit and claim on minority creativity
To ensure our voices get squashed out
Instead of reigning in prosperity
And instituting an altering system where I too can obtain equality
Equality holding hands with equity
And bask in the presence of the supposed glory of the land of the free
Built on the backs of conquered people who colonizers fed a salvation pacifier
Treat thy neighbor as thyself
Branded into our minds
How they used to do our backs
But did some skip reading that verse in the Bible
As well as the humanity in my eyes?
Time never fails to prove I am only your equal when you need me to fight in your wars
But if it's the white man's burden
It's the white man's war
I constitute as your equal solely in pipe dreams and acid trips
Because you say all lives matter
Yet prioritize those who appear fairer
The sun will not ever rise on Sunday
Nor did it rise Monday morning
Or that night
All of Tuesday I saw no light
I thought I saw hope in the stars on Wednesday
Yet it all passed me by like cars on an expressway by Thursday
And though some thank God each time Friday comes around
It did not and will not amount to anything better than the Saturday a bound
For the sun never shines on Sunday
The day dedicated to the Lord
As the first and eighth day of the week
Brings no more glory
Than the twenty-four hours before it
